Fence installation and replacement across Niagara
Orestorations builds and replaces fences for homes in Niagara Falls and across Niagara Region. We build any fence type, and most of our requests are wood privacy fences with gates. To start, send us a message. We visit your yard to see the fence line, then prepare your quote.
Wood fence builds start at $55 per foot. Your final quote depends on length, materials, gates and site conditions after we see the yard.

Fence project: wood privacy fence and gate in Niagara Falls
The project above shows a real fence replacement in Niagara Falls. The homeowner had a weathered fence and gate. Our crew documented the old fence, then built new wood posts, a top rail and framed gate openings.
Next came vertical wood privacy boards across the fence and the gates. We finished with metal gate latch hardware. You can follow every stage in the six photos on the project page, from the old fence to the finished privacy fence.
Fence types we build
You can ask us about any fence type. Most homeowners who call us want a wood fence, often for privacy around the back yard. If you have another style in mind, bring a photo of a fence you like to the site visit and we will talk it through.
- Wood privacy fences with vertical boards.
- Fence replacement, where we take out a worn fence and build a new one on the line.
- Gates built into the new fence, with latch hardware.
- Other fence styles and materials, discussed at your site visit.
What sets the price of a fence
Wood fence builds start at $55 per foot. Your final number depends on the length of the fence, the materials you choose, how many gates you need and the conditions in your yard.
We do not set a final fence price from a photo. An old fence that has to come out, a sloped yard and the number of gates all show up best in person, so we walk the fence line with you first.
We confirm those details on site. After the visit we prepare a quote for your fence, so you know the price before any work starts.
How a fence replacement goes with us
You contact us about the fence you want. We visit the property, walk the fence line and look at the yard, then prepare a quote. On the Niagara Falls project the work moved through clear stages: the old fence recorded, new posts and framing, boards across the fence and gates, then the gate hardware.
Plan your fence before the quote visit
Walk your yard before we arrive and jot down a few details. Note roughly where the fence will run, how tall you want it, and how many gates you need and where. If you want a gate wide enough for a lawn mower or a trailer, write that down too.
Tell us if the fence will surround a pool or hot tub, since pool enclosures follow separate rules. Mark anything buried along the fence line that you know about, such as a line to a shed or pool heater. Then check the local fence by-law for height limits near your driveway or a corner.
Our permit guide suggests one more step: agree in writing who requests utility locates, and wait for those locates before anyone digs a post hole.
Fence rules in Niagara: permits, by-laws and locates
The City of Niagara Falls says a standard fence does not need a building permit unless it goes in with a swimming pool or replaces an existing pool enclosure. Niagara-on-the-Lake also lists ordinary fences as permit-exempt and treats pool and hot-tub enclosures on their own.
A fence without a permit still has to follow the local fence by-law. Those by-laws can set height, location, materials and visibility near driveways or corners. If you are not sure where your property line sits, you may need a survey or advice from an Ontario Land Surveyor before posts go in.
Fence posts mean digging. Ontario One Call asks homeowners to request public-utility locates online at least five business days before the dig and to wait for every utility to respond. Our Niagara renovation permit guide, linked below, has the official pages for each municipality.
